2024 XC Season:

Tahoma Co-ed Relay

Always a fun way to start the XC racing, in this unique meet at Lake Wilderness Park the XC teams compete in a 5 person relay (3 boys, 2 girls). The Wolves brought home 3 medals with team in the top 10. In 8th place the team of Aubrey Wilems, Rio Tabion, Paolo Villanueva, Lukas Talius, and Yonatan Turgeman. Finishing 5th place: Anna Schneidler, Fiona Wolf, Dresden Taylor, Austin Poppino, and Silas Smith. And in 2nd Place the team of Sally Roos, Jane Roos, Preston Daniels, Andrew Talius, and Zack Rikkinen.

 

KingCo Jamboree

The true rust buster of the season with a 2mi class race on the first part of the KingCo Championship course at Lake Sammamish State Park. The Lady Wolves really showed their depth and strength. Placing at least 3 in the top 15 for each class race and 2nd overall. The Boys ran strong as well finishing 4th in the field of 17 teams. Strong top 10 finishes by super frosh Dresden Taylor who took 3rd only 0.7 seconds behind 1st in the freshmen race and University of Chicago commit Andrew Talius in 8th place for the senior race.

 

Meet vs Mt Si, Inglemoor, and Cedarcrest

The Wolves travelled to South Fork Landing to face the 2024 State Champions girls squad from Mt Si. Eastlake ran fantastic in this 5K season opener, taking 1st place in all 3 races! Sally Roos outkicked the Mt Si top runners, Eli Yoon easily pulled away from the field in the Boys Varsity, and freshman Hrithik Wadia took the W. The Boys team won both on both the JV and Varsity sides with the girls finishing just 1 point (less than 3 seconds) behind Mt Si girls.

Boys Varsity: Eli Yoon (1st), Dresden Taylor (2nd), Zack Rikkinen (9th), Lukas Talius (11th), Silas Smith (13th), Yonatan Turgeman (15th), Paolo Villanueva (21st), Liam Gershony (24th), Alan Duan (29th), and Alex Hovnanyan (30th).

Boys JV: Hrithik Wadia (1st), Ethan Lavier (3rd), Luke Simon (6th), Nate Kent-Horton (8th), Brady Gallucci (10th), Karthik Sivakumar (15th), Hemanth Mandava (18th), Jake Richardson (19th), Josiah Colbert (26th), and Aiden Moeller (28th).

 

3-Course Challenge

This is a highlight of every season with the team focusing on grit and competing over running fast times. This year’s meet brought together over 70 team from OR, ID, WA, and BC. This unique XC meet requires the team to race athletes across 3 different race courses an Easy, Moderate, and Hard course. Each course features sand running, mud pits, and uneven terrain reflective in the venue of Camp Rilea military training center.

Competing in the large school division both boys and girls teams took home 1st place trophies!

Scoring for the Girls: Sally Roos(1st), Jane Roos(2nd), Anna Schneidler(1st), Aubrey Wilems(3rd), Gaby Chencheva(4th) , Fiona Wolf(2nd) , Rio Tabion(2nd). Also earning top 10 medals: Claire Drake, Sydney Lamb, Marie Luican, and Eliana Schenck

Scoring for the Boys: Lukas Talius, Silas Smith, Dresden Taylor, Zack Rikkinen, Eli Yoon, Andrew Talius, Austin Poppino. Also earning top 10 medals: Alan Duan and Jonah Yoon.

 

Home Meet vs Juanita and North Creek

The XC team hosted its only Beaver Lake Park home meet and the Wolves showed up to win! Both boys and girls taking the victory.

Boys

Running a little short handed the Wolves nonetheless took care of business, defeating Juanita(35) and North Creek(63) with only 30 points…remember low score wins in XC. Super frosh Dresden Taylor took home the W a little head of teammate Austin Poppino in 2nd. Rounding out top 7 varsity for Eastlake was Yonatan Turgmen (8th), Liam Gershony (9th), Zack Rikkinen (10th), Lukas Talius (11th), and Alan Duan (13th). Also finishing in top 25 overall:  Paolo Villanueva (14th), Alex Hovnanyan (15th), Jonah Yoon (17th), Olen Emiliusen (18th), Aiden Vanhaltren (20th), David Javnozon (21st), Hrithik Wadia (22nd), and Aarush Thadani (25th).

Biggest improvement on the day definitely goes to Liam Gershony who ran 18:09 which is an improvement (PR) of 2 minutes and 57 seconds from last year!!!

Girls

The girls score an incredible perfect score of 15 points, sweeping the top 8 podium finishes! Led by a 1st place finish of Sally Roos who is undefeated in the regular season, the top 8 Eastlake girls were: Anna Schneidler, Rio Tabion, Jane Roos, Fiona Wolf, Aubrey Wilems, Gaby Chencheva, and Saniya Riabinina. Rounding out the top 25 places – Kiera Quinto (11th), Erin Harris (13th), Eliana Schenck (16th), Claire Drake (17th), Sienna Daniels (18th), Sonoma Steiner (19th), Marie Luican (20th), Tamaki Eguchi (21st), Sydney Lamb (22nd), and Alya Caywood (24th).  

 

Twilight Invite

On Oct 5th the Wolves XC team headed to Marysville to run against some of the best teams in WA, OR, ID, and WY. The super competitive and fun Twilight Invite has the last races run under the lights and ends with a glow in the dark fun 2K run.

In the JV races the Wolves ran some strong PRs and tough races. Kelvin Sibley, Aiden Moeller, Advik Arun, and Roman Galinat led the boys in the JV Open race. In the Girls JV Open race Alannah Irwin, Leila Burg, and Hayden Shipley led the girls squad.

For the Boys class JV races…Yonatan Turgeman, Jonah Yoon, Liam Gershony, Olen Emilusen, and Aiden Vanhaltren finished as our top 5 in the Fresh/Soph race. With Paolo Villanueva, Alex Hovanyan, Alan Duan, Aarush Thadani, and Braden Scott scoring in the Jr/Sr race.

On the Girls side in the JV class races…the Freshmen/Sophomore girls won the day placing 5 in the top 25 overall. Saniya Riabinina (3rd), Eliana Schenck(5th), Claire Drake(7th), Sienna Daniels(8th), and Tamaki Eguchi (25th) as the top 5 scorers. Kiera Quinto (9th), Sonoma Steiner (23rd), Marie Luican (24th), Sydney Lamb and Kai Tamanaha all score for Eastlake in the Jr/Sr race.

Boys Varsity raced with a full squad for the first time all season and continued to progress in fitness. Super Frosh Dresden Taylor finished 25th as the teams #1 runner. With Eli Yoon, Andrew Talius, Austin Poppino, Silas Smith, Lukas Talius, and Zack Rikkinen rounding out the top 7. Austin ran a 17:03 PR which is 1min and 52 seconds faster than last year! Dresden Taylor’s time of 16:08 also broke the Eastlake freshmen record, placing him above such notable D1 runners as Nate Pendleton, Nathan Pixler, Ethan Pedersen, and Noah Zahn.

Varsity Girls ran very strong taking home the 3rd place trophy and finished the top Washington team on the day! The team of Sally Roos, Jane Roos, Aubrey Wilems, Anna Schneidler, Rio Tabion, Fiona Wolf, and Gaby Chencheva. Aubrey ran a PR of 62 seconds to finish as our #3 runner on the day. The Wolves took down NW powerhouse from Jesuit from Oregon and Bishop Blanchet.

 

Hole in the Wall Invite

The Wolves travelled back north to the Hole in the Wall invite at Lakewood HS. Considered the most competitive invite in the PNW tons of PRs and great racing ensued.

The races led off with the JV Girls who continued rolling from the week before by taking 2ndplace behind perennial powerhouse Jesuit. Freshmen Eliana Schenck led the Wolves with a 7th place finish and big PR in 20:33. Kiera Quinto (12th), Claire Drake (13th), Erin Harris (22nd), Sonoma Steiner (39th), Amy Harlan (40th), and Marie Lucian (50th) rounded out the top 7 girls JV. Sonoma Steiner’s time of 21:25 is an enormous improvement year over year,Sonoma’s PR as a freshmen was 32:14!

Boys JV had some big PRs by Brenton Natale, Keegan Allan, Nate Kasoerkiewicz, Hewie Siou, and Ethan Eglip who PRd by nearly 2 mins and was 5mins faster than freshmen year! In the JV Gold race Yonatan Turgeman & Liam Gershony lead the team and both finished with big PRs. Yoni’s time placed him as the #5 fastest EHS runner on the day! Liam broke 18min for the first time.

Boys Varsity had strong performances by Andrew Talius running a PR in 16:22 and Zack Rikkinen in 17:08, which is a 75 second improvement over 2023.

Girls Varsity had their highest finish at the HITW invite with 5th place out of more than 120 teams. Anna Scheidler led the way with a huge race finishing in 18:46. Saniya Riabinina ran with the top 7 varsity this week and finished with a strong PR in 20:21.

2023 XC Season:

Congratulations to the Cross Country team at the State Championship last weekend. Boys finished 6th and the Girls team finished on the podium taking home the 4th place trophy. This is the girl’s 9th State trophy, which is the most trophies achieved by any 4A girls program in the State since 2006. Sally Roos also finished 11th overall, earning her All-Star Honors.

Representing the Boys team was: Justin Hom, Connor Hom, Eli Yoon, Andrew Talius, Chase Beckstead, Colin Thompson, Max Qu, Lukas Talius, and Daniel Montano. The Girls State team was represented by: Anna Schneidler, Jane Roos, Sally Roos, Holly Carroll, Fiona Wolf, Salma Abdelale, Abbey VanValkenburg, Amy Harlan, and Claire Drake.

Historic 2022 XC Season: Two Team Trophies & 
Boys team Academic State Champions!

Wolves take 3 team awards at State Cross Country Championships in Pasco on Nov 5th. 

The Boys XC team won the Academy State Championship with a 3.940 avg GPA! 

The Girls team took home 4th place trophy marking the 8th time in 13 State appearances that the girls team has taken home a team trophy and the 3rd trophy in the last 3 full seasons. The girls team was represented by: Jane Roos, Sally Roos, Alyssa Flindt, Kaitlyn Liu, Kiera Quinto, Abbey VanValkenburg, Sydney Lamb. Individually Jane Roos finished 7th on the podium for 1st team All-state honors! 

The Boys team battled for 2nd place, marking the first State trophy in school history! The boys team was represented by: Noah Zahn, Ethan Pedersen, Connor Hom, Justin Hom, Harris Austin, Andrew Talius, and Daniel Montano. Individually, Noah Zahn finished 6th place and earned 1st team All-state honors!

Great way to finish strong this season!

Historic 2021 XC Season

 

GIRLS STATE CHAMPIONS!
BOYS finish as best ever EHS team at State!

The 2021 Eastlake XC team finished the best combined Boys & Girls program in the State with the 5th place finish of the Boys team and the 1st Place finish of the Girls team!

The Boys ran a tough race against an outstanding 4A field of 16 teams and 152 runners. Ethan Pedersen led the squad with a 5th Place finish followed closely by Noah Zahn in 10th place. Ethan earning 1st Team All-State and Noah 2nd Team All-State. The Boys team finished 5th overall, which is the best team finish by an Eastlake Boys XC team at State (previous was 10th place). The boys team was also represented by: Justin Hom (68th), Connor Hom(75th), Chris Lynn(77th), Daniel Montano(116th), and Quinn Hulet(136th).

The Girls team flew out of the start in 1st place at the first mile split and never looked back. Finishing the 5K course with the fastest team average in Eastlake history and beating 2nd place Lewis and Clark by 40 points. Led by Jane Roos in 8th place the Lady Wolves put 4 girls in the top 14 and 5 in the top 24 places out of over 145 runners. Emily VanValkenburg in 11th, Fiona Wolf 13th, Sally Roos 14th, all joined Jane on the podium and earned 2nd Team All-State honors. Alyssa Flindt (24th), Claudia Wolf (53rd), and Ashley Lotzkar (58th) rounded out the amazing Girls team.
